PSHS Alumni Association Board 2008 Inducted
The incoming officers and members of the Board of Directors of the PSHS Alumni Association were recently inducted by DOST Undersecretary Fortunato dela Pena last January 11, 2008 at the Tower Club in Makati City . Dean Alberto Muyot, Chairman of the PSHS Foundation, and Dr. Jessamyn Yazon, PSHS-Main OIC, were the special guests for the occasion.

 

After a simple turnover ceremony by outgoing Chairman Ciel Habito, the board proceeded with its first meeting of the year. One of the highlights of the meeting was the Business Plan presentation of PSHSAA Board Chairman Butch Zaldarriaga.

 

The reopening of the alumni office in PSHS-Main and the rehabilitation of the association's website were set as one of its immediate priorities. Major activities lined-up for the year include the 6th Gawad Lagablab, Alumni Forum, Pisay Cup Golf Tournament, Alumni Concert, and of course the Annual Alumni Homecoming in September. Aside from funds from the annual alumni dues, the association hopes to generate extra funds by selling PSHS memorabilia items like t-shirts, jackets, bags, car stickers, pens and mugs.

Dr. Cleofe Bacungan Natatanging Guro       Endowment Fund Launched

   
     The Dr. Cleofe Bacungan Natatanging Guro Endowment           Fund (DCB-NGEF) was successfully launched last       December 7, 2007 at the PSHS Main campus with            officers of PSHS Alumni Association, PSHS Foundation,    PSHS teachers, students and staff in attendance to witness the event     organized by Batch 82.

                      PSHSAA, in collaboration with the PSHS Foundation and PSHS, aims to raise P100 million for DCB-NGEF to generate funds and augment PSHS teachers' salaries and support foreign study grants. Attracting and retaining the country's best high school teachers is the ultimate goal of this project. Initiated and organized by Batch 82, DCB-NGEF is part of their silver jubilee year offering to our alma mater.

Christmas carols and a dance number were rendered by students as part of the program. The evening's highlight was the signing of a giant replica of a P100 million check by the representatives of PSHS System (Dr Brawner), PSHS Diliman (Dr J Yazon), PSHS Foundation (Mita Ong), PSHS AA (Butch Zaldarriaga) and Batch 82 (Adee Sipin) to symbolize the proponents' commitment to the fund's success. The lighting of the colorful 10-foot giant lantern from Pampanga and the fantastic 10-minute fireworks display soon followed to cap the affair.
