The Pisay Concert 2
The Pisay Concert2 at the PETA Theatre held last September 3 was a resounding success! In true Pisay fashion, everything fell into place at the last minute. And to everyone’s delight, all participating batches delivered outstanding performances.
Coming only from rehearsals at the PSHS Auditorium and PETA just days before, it was amazing indeed how Batches '77, '78, '79, '80, '81, '82, '84 and '85 managed to raise their numbers to performance caliber come concert night. The audience was enthralled with a samba/bossa fusion on jazz guitar; a young tenor’s classical numbers accompanied live, on piano, by a world-class Pisay talent; the sweetness of Japanese animé songs, but mostly and just as expectedly — with the nostalgic tunes of the 70s and 80s.
Ciel Habito'70, in a special number, graciously serenaded the audience with moving ballads. Perry Callanta'69, with lovely daughter Roni, kept everyone amused with their lively and engaging brand of hosting. The evening was also punctuated with a State-of-the-Philippine Environment presentation of Vicky Ortega-Espaldon '78, one of this year's Gawad Lagablab awardees.
Last October 4, in a simple ceremony in Los Baños, the PSHSAA Board of Directors, through Susan Warren-Mercado '78 and Jocelyn Sanchez-Mendoza '78, turned over a cheque worth P50,000 to the Tubig-Kanlungan Foundation Inc — the main beneficiary of this year’s green-themed concert. It was the icing on the cake, so to speak — obtaining enough proceeds for a worthy foundation, on top of all the camaraderie, fun and priceless bonding within and among batches!
And the music goes on… See you in next year’s PisayConcert3!
Tubig Kanlungan Foundation's Cesar Gimena, Lynie Bernardino-Dimasuay, Lea de Leon-Gimena, and Vicky Ortega-Espaldon; and Susan Warren-Mercado and Jocelyn Sanchez-Mendoza of the PSHS Alumni Association Board handing over a cheque amounting to P50,0000.
